Europa League: Borussia Dortmund travel to Norway without Marco Reus

As Borussia Dortmund embark on a trip to Norway to face Odd Grenland in the Europa League, a number of players will be staying in Germany. One of those being star player, Marco Reus.

Marco Reus, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek have not travelled with Borussia Dortmund to face Odd Grenland in the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie on Thursday.

After a blockbuster weekend for new BVB head coach Thomas Tuchel, he and his side will be without two of the starters against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Reus and Piszczek.

"It's a precautionary measure," the head coach told reporters as Dortmund arrived at the airport on Wednesday, when asked why Reus had been kept at home.

Reus took a knock to his left foot during the win versus The Foals on Saturday and limped off with just over 10 minutes to play. Lukasz Pizszceck played all 90 minutes of the opening Bundesliga weekend, whilst Blaszczykowski remains sidelined with a knee problem.

Erik Durm and Nuri Sahin, who have yet to return to full team training at BVB this season, are also not travelling with the squad.

Odd Grenland play on the artificial surface of the Skagerak Arena, which holds 13,500 people, and is sold out for the match against Borussia Dortmund. The return leg in Dortmund takes place on August 27.
