Murray secures World Tour Finals spot
Victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga secured Andy Murray's place at the ATP World Tour Finals for the eighth year running.
Andy Murray booked his spot at the ATP World Tour Finals for the eighth year in a row after his Rogers Cup quarter-final triumph over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The Briton is the second player to qualify for the season-ending event after Novak Djokovic, with the world number one having secured his berth in June.
Murray, who did not qualify for last year's finals until October, was happy to avoid a late scramble this time around.
"It's good to do it with a long time to spare," he said. "It's nice and very different to last year when I ended up playing about six tournaments in six weeks and I was pretty fried by the time I got there.
"So hopefully I can prepare a little bit better for it this year. I always enjoy playing there."
Murray suffered two losses from three matches at the 2014 Finals, including a 6-0 6-1 reverse to eventual runner-up Roger Federer.
