Makrem Ben Romdhane led Tunisia to victory in the host nation's opening fixture of AfroBasket 2015.
Hosts Tunisia started their AfroBasket 2015 campaign with a victory, while Egypt crushed Gabon 96-49 on Wednesday.

A 39-3 second quarter set up Egypt's 47-point victory with Ibrahim El-Gammal top-scoring with 14 points, while four other Egyptians reached double figures.

In the final match on the opening day of the African basketball championships, Tunisia defeated Uganda 77-55 with Makrem Ben Romdhane notching 24 points for the home team.

Egypt's win took the 2013 runners-up to top spot in Group C ahead of Cameroon, who overcame Mali 70-56, while Tunisia sit second in Group A.

Tunisia won AfroBasket in 2011 but they will be looking to improve in front of their home crowd in the hope of overhauling Nigeria in their group before the end of the preliminary round.

Nigeria trumped Central African Republic 88-63 in the other match on Wednesday.
