The United States mens soccer team has not taken the field together since a penalty shootout defeat to Panama — and a loss to Jamaica before that — to cap a disappointing Gold Cup campaign.

Jurgen Klinsmann’s men will prepare for World Cup qualifying with a pair of home friendly matches against South American sides. First comes Peru, a team that stunned the soccer world by advancing to the Copa America semifinals and placing third in the competition. Most of the players who helped the country to that summit will suit up in Friday’s matchup, including Flamengo’s Jose Paolo Guerrero.
