Brazil bounce back in England win

21 OCTOBER 2015
Brazil bounced back from their shock opening defeat to Korea Republic with a 1-0 victory over England, and handed the Three Lions a tough task of reaching the knockout stages of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Leandro's superb second half free-kick lit up an otherwise tense and terse match, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities throughout.

The first half-chance of the game fell to Leandro, with the Brazilian No7 receiving the ball from Arthur on the Seleção right in the penalty area, but his low cross-cum-shot.

Andrey then created the clearest opportunity of the first half, firing a low drive just wide of Alfie Whiteman's right-hand post.

It was the second half before England crafted a clear opening, with Tottenham Hotspur forward Kazaiah Sterling heading on target from a whipped delivery, only to find the diving Juliano in fine form.

Leandro stole the show with his superb technique with the clock ticking down. Sterling committed a foul on the edge of the England box and Brazil's No7 took full advantage. His curling effort flew past the despairing dive of Whiteman and in off the goalkeeper's right-hand post.

With Brazil atoning for their opening defeat, they face African side Guinea in their final Group B game, while England need to improve upon their solitary point so far in their ultimate pool match against Korea Republic on Sunday.
